Why We Need You

Help socialize and care for our animals.
Help with events and offsite projects.
Help keep the shelter running smoothly and efficiently.

Volunteer Opportunities

General cleaning, dishes, laundry and feeding.
Socializing and walking dogs.
Socializing and playing with cats.
Attending events for the shelter.
Distributing flyers about upcoming events.
Transporting animals to and from events.

Volunteer Requirements

Must be age 16 or older.
If you are under age 18, your parent or guardian must be present to sign volunteer application.
Must complete a Volunteer Application.
Must successfully complete a three part Volunteer Orientation.
Must execute a Waiver of Liability.

Our Volunteer Orientation Program

We have a three step Volunteer Orientation program. You must successfully complete all three steps to become a volunteer.

Step One is easy, and you can complete it right now.  Just watch the short video below.  Be sure to keep an eye out for a picture of an animal that you would normally expect not to find a the shelter because we will ask you about it later.
After you are done with the video, proceed to Step Two!

Step Two is attending an in-house session at the Shelter where you will be given a tour and a demonstration of basic animal handling techniques. The session will last around one hour.

You will also need to bring a completed Volunteer Application and Waiver of Liability.

ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR STEP TWO PROGRAMS
Registration for the Step Two In-House Session ends at Noon on the Friday before the session is scheduled.

Generally, we have one program monthly, but we may add additional dates when needed. 
You can choose and register for the session you wish to attend on this page's menu.

Step Three is shadowing an employee at the Shelter.  This Step can be scheduled at your convenience.  Please be sure to allow at least one hour for this Step.
